Both default gateways are the same. What do you mean by "then the issue is elsewhere?" I don't even know what to do once i set up the hardware perfectly for the network. You aren't the only person to respond this way though. Everyone, and even the windows help just talk about setting up the network, but they don't say anything about the actual transfering.then you must find out if this hub is handing out IPs..
go to start > run > type in "cmd" press enter... black screen will pop up
type in "ipconfig"
do this to both machines... if the default gateway are the same, then the issue is elsewhere... if worse comes to worse, you can assign static IPs to both machines and connect by IP "\\192.168.x.x."
137.99.xxx.xx. They are both the same for the first 5 numbers, then they differ after that.well you cant transfer unless both computers can talk to eachother... thats why the network aspect is important.
what are the IP addresses?
for future reference, if you wanna save yourself some headache on PC-to-PC data transfer... get a crossover cable
Ok, i'm not sure if i have access to the adminstrator's control because this is a school laptop. That's really gay that they make us pay a fortune and they don't even give us control over it.Click Start button, select Help and Support, type in "file sharing" into the Search box, follow the steps you will find in "Enable file and printer sharing using the Network Setup Wizard" in "Pick a Task" section.
